Public Interest Disclosures

The Shire of West Arthur does not tolerate corrupt or other improper conduct, including mismanagement of public resources, in the exercise of the public functions of the Shire of West Arthur and its officials, employees and suppliers/contractors. The Shire’s Fraud and Control Plan is a commitment to a zero tolerance approach to fraudulent and corrupt conduct.

The Shire is committed to the aims and objectives of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003. It recognises the value and importance of contributions of staff to enhance administrative and management practices and strongly supports disclosures being made as to corrupt or other improper conduct. The Shire’s Statement of Business Ethics provides guidance to business partners, contractors and suppliers on the values and ethical standards the Shire upholds and expects in return.

The Shire will take all reasonable steps to provide protection to those who make such disclosures from any detrimental action in reprisal for the making of a public interest disclosure. The Shire does not tolerate any of its officials, employees or suppliers engaging in acts of victimisation or reprisal against those who make public interest disclosures.

Employees and others are encouraged to contact the nominated Public Interest Disclosure Officer to seek guidance on their disclosure and to lodge completed Public Interest Disclosure forms. Reporting Minor Misconduct

Anyone can speak up if they are concerned about the conduct of a public officer, and should ‘check 1, 2’ to make sure they report their concern with the right people. This is the message in a new video created by the Public Sector Commission for government sector staff and the community.

Lodge a Public Interest Disclosure

Should you wish to lodge a Public Interest Disclosure you can complete the Public Interest Disclosure Lodgement Form and provide it to the PID Officer in the following manner:
